Merger for Stratos and Pinnacle Analytics

Two established market research companies in Malaysia, Stratos Consulting Group and Pinnacle Analytics Sdn Bhd, have joined forces to form Stratos Pinnacle Sdn Bhd (S-PAC). Through the merger, S-PAC aims to become the leading specialist in shopping mall and retail research in Malaysia.

“This partnership will enable us to realise our strategic goal of offering clients a more holistic suite of market research, market intelligence, big data and consulting services. It will also prepare the ground for us to expand our services regionally,” said Teoh Wei Cheng, managing director of S-PAC.

The combination of Stratos Pinnacle is expected to enhance efficiencies and significantly increase the firm’s market share in the mall, retail, property research and other sectors.

Stratos was founded by Tina Leong in 2010; and Pinnacle by both Johnson Tan and Teoh Wei Cheng in 2017. Both companies have been servicing the leading shopping malls in Malaysia such as Suria KLCC, Sunway Malls, IOI City Mall and Pavilion through shopper surveys, focus groups, market and demographic studies. They have also served various developers such as UEM Sunrise, Gamuda, Sime Darby, WCT, Mah Sing, IJM and many more.

Tina started her career as a business journalist and investment analyst and was the co-founder of MIRP Consult Sdn Bhd before starting Stratos. Johnson was formerly the co-founder of Metrix Research Sdn Bhd, whilst Teoh Wei Cheng is formerly from Frost & Sullivan.

The integration had begun in late 2020 and will be finalized by the end of first quarter 2021.
